About fifteen years ago, I was the victim of a carjacking, rape, and murder. During the carjacking, I was raped, shot three times, left for dead, and worst of all - my two daughters were killed. My life is a testimony to the fact that victims can be victorious through the power of prayer. When we pray, we are simply communing with God. Sometimes prayer is a time of worship and praise, sometimes it is to petition God to meet a specific need, and sometimes it is to intercede on another’s behalf.

Survivors, It's Okay If You're Angry |

Many Christians believe it is not okay to feel angry, however, anger is actually a very healthy emotion. The bible teaches us to “Be angry but sin not, do not let the sun go down on your anger” (Ephesians 4:26). It is not the anger that creates the problem/sin but rather the actions resulting from the anger. You may feel anger towards the perpetrator, or toward the caretaker that did not protect you. You may even feel anger towards God whom you may feel abandoned you. Anger is a normal and natural emotion when we have been violated, preyed upon, or abused. |

How well do I remember the blood on the walls from the constant fighting that went on at home. It was usually Dad’s blood. Mom had thrown an object and cut him with it. As children, we would scream and cry in terror. My parents drank almost every weekend and the latter parts of the day! |

The Mail and Guardian reported that rape statistics may be as high as 450 000 women raped per annum for only one in nine cases are reported. |
